Lion Quays was formerly the site of the Lion Inn Pub which had been left to go derelict by its previous owners; meanwhile the land was left to turn into swamp! Nevertheless we saw the potential of the location and built our hotel from the ground up. After proudly opening in December 2004, a year after our stunning restaurant The Waterside opened its doors in August 2003, these two Lion Quays ventures proved a resounding success; therefore it was time to expand and open our Country Club, Gym and Spa in November 2008.
Fortunately The Lion Quays Hotel & Spa has a positive track record and a successful history, thanks to its consistent loyalty of custom and the great feedback from all the new visitors that walks through its doors.
Here at Lion Quays Hotel & Spa we are very proud to be embedded in the heart of a landscape that is steeped in beauty and Great British heritage. We are situated on the banks of the rolling Llangollen Canal, which covers a spectacular 88 miles! In fact 11 miles of the Canal is included in the UNESCO World Heritage list, and, our claim to fame doesn’t stop there, this Heritage site is the only one in the world to sit in 2 different countries, Wales and England!
